I've always loved the hats that were popular in the 1930ties. So I thought about a pattern and had a try. Result is quite ok; I used a single skein of Horstia Island yarn in a pretty green that I still had. It was just right; had only about 30 cm left finally. The hat was felted lightly and only one time in the machine at 40°C. If I would do it again or even at 60°C this wool would crumble into a frotteelike texture and come out far too small. This way it has a nice soft tissue that holds nicely in hatshape. I still have to find a large mother-of-pearl button or a flower to add to one side as decoration! 
Earlier today I saw another team arriving Nome. The webcam only updates every minute, so mostly the entire dogteam is not visible and disappears in the waiting crowd of people. This was the only team that was halfway to see. Think it is Matt Hayashida or Ray Redington coming in. Oh, how I wish I could be there live.... yesterday I saw Dee Dee Jonrowe's arrival! Nice weekend to all of you out in Bloglandia! We have beautiful sun here, but it was frosty last night and this morning...

Åh ja jeg har set fotos af min for længst afdøde mormor med sådan en hat. Den var nu lavet af filt og hed en klokkehat. Den slags havde hun også på til sit bryllup men desværre har hun klippet sig selv af fordi hun syntes hun så dum ud- ærgerligt hvad kvinders forfængelighed kan ødelægge af historiske dokumenter, men hun havde det lidt med det. Jeg er tvilling og var den lille af os to så det første foto af os, der ligger i en tøjkurv, har hun klippet benene af mig fordi hun syntes jeg var for tynd - det var nu bleen der var stor og ikke mig der var for lille. Ja ja sådan er der så meget.
Den hatten ble riktig flott og akkurat passe nostalgisk. Synes den ikke trenger noe mer pynt jeg. Vakker:)
