Europe and elsewhere, are called Caucasians while
the Caucasus is some place different with more
beautiful exotic looking folks?
What is the history behind this?
I don't understand...
I don't look like a Caucasian (never mind that I have
ancestors in Asia), but I am called Caucasian -
at least in America

The Caucasus, also Caucas or Caucasia (for endonyms, see below), is a geopolitical region at the border of Europe and Asia, and situated between theBlack and the Caspian sea. It is home to the Caucasus Mountains, which contain Europe's highest mountain, Mount Elbrus. Politically, the Caucasus region is separated between northern and southern parts.

I had the same confusion years ago! This helped to clear it up: article on the caucasian race : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasian_race
Looking forward to some answers!
I have never understood this either... I think it's especially an American (US) definition, we don't use it that much in Europe, do we?
