NYC is fantastic in September!!!
Today 8 years ago I was not there, but in Hamburg driving to several smaller cities in the suburbs doing my field job selling beautiful cards and related stuff. I was at one of my fave customers, had loads to do and was exhausted and not very motivated to go straight on, so I drove home for dinner. At home I turned the radio on. News were thru, but no music, just people talking about that a plane had hit WTC. I thought: no wonder, so much action in the sky over the city...this must happen some day. So I turned back to preparing dinner. Suddenly the girl on the radio started screaming, really shrill and terrified: the other tower was hit by another plane! Then I turned on the TV and remained in front of it for many hours to come. You all know what happened further...!
All general programs were deleted and it was somehow surreal. It was like a film, but it was real.... the newsmen and women did a great job. They were on air without a break, untill they had to resign totally exhausted and somebody else had to take over. I admire them for the great job they made!
Accidently I took part somehow live...what did you do on this bright September Day?!

Hi Bea,
I don't know my english is good enough to write everything in english.
I really remember what I did on this day in September. My daughter and me were sitting at the doctor's waitingroom. Radio played some music until the news came. We heard what's happened and were worried about my parents. At this time, they stayed in Toronto/Canada.
A week later they got one of the first planes to europe.
Wish you a nice weekend
Petra
I was at home with my little girl - she was ill. I remember seeing the second plane hit. It was terrifying. Then there was a very stupid and self centred interview with the Icelandic president and I was so angry with him. I remember that vividly.
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was getting ready to take my daughter to school and my husband called and told me to turn on the TV. I grew up in NJ looking across the river at the NYC skyline its odd to see it now. Hoping and praying for a better world one with peace.
I can't remember what I did that day beside sitting on my cauch and watched tv like forever, it was so unreal to look at.
This 9-11 I received my package from Uruguay with the smoothest merino ever. So it was a fun day with a little black edge.
