Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

♥ Romantic Tour in Town ♥

Earlier this evening I decided to stroll a bit round town and take some new snaps of the island, the castle, cafe and the lake and cottage. Hope you will enjoy it! Unfortunately weather was not very inviting!

~ Cool but Sunny ~

A cool, but sunny morning today! What a joy! My Springhat is halfway done, only the top is still missing. Up til now I am quite satisfied with this design. Colours are really pretty....

Simple, but Beautiful ...

Some time ago I received a skein Noro yarn as a present. Can't remember the name of this Noro wool, was not on Noro's homepage either, but it is lovely, has a fine change of colours and a seagreen shimmering Lurex thread inbetween. Not too many meters in this skein and to show off the beauty of this yarn, I decided to make this simple comforter out of it. Ever since it's done I wear it often! It is nice and warm and can be used for more festive events as well. .... enjoy your weekend! Y

Foto Safari #11

It's been long since my last entry to www.petuniablogg.blogspot.com Foto Safari! But finally, here's my 11th pic: a frontdoor with rainbow in hip Hamburg-Altona. Hope you will enjoy it!?
Further I have to show off these pix I found on Ravelry! I hope the owner will forgive me, but this is such a great work! And what an idea..... all my compliments to you!!! Y

This just needs to be shown! I have seen a few that do lifelike animals such as snails, corals, fish, octopus etc., but never this size! You see, I am still thrilled .....

* New Wool * More Ideas *

This is a yarn, a unique skein, I just purchased. Now I wait for it's arrival. I am quite mad about patterns like this....
... so I need more yarn that has changing colours. The effects are gorgeous!!! So I keep on knitting while weather is just horrible: wet snow is falling heavy and it is cool and windy. Fortunately the snow melts off..... see the weather in Berlin today! Unter den Linden in sunshine and some folks are out already to sell their (old) books along the way (see the very right corner of the snap)! Wish I could be there now! So many nice, sometimes antique, books are for sale there. And the entire surrounding has a special athmosphere.....

Winter will not let go *****

It just starts to snow again, large flakes that will probably not remain on the ground, but who knows....it is cold and I woke up with finding a layer of frost on the roof! Winter will definitely not move away from us yet!
For Karin: I have not a sock- or mittseating washing machine *grin*. Here you can see both mitts! My machine is quite new; maybe one day she will be starting to eat socks and other small items ..... though I hope not ..... have a nice day! Y

Stormy Day Mitts ♥

Yesterday was a bad-weather-Sunday: storm, rain.... and today it's going to continue like this and it's even worser. We will have snow again, so it is announced. The wind is icy still, so I made this mitts out of Zitron Trekking Sockyarn. It has beautiful changes of colours, so it is very effective and quite a pity to be used for socks - and in shoes - only! Mitts look a little complicated, but they are not; one mitt was ready in 2 hours (with dinner inbetween)
The dog wants to go out, no matter what kind of weather we have. So we made a tour round town and again I had to stop at my fave flower shop. Found these cute froggies swimming in a basin in the window and just had to show them off.... what a cute idea

~ Tajarutit ~

Made of 100% Alpaka and the graygreen edge is a rest of Noro Silk Garden!
Made of a simple black yarn of not the best quality, but I like them and wear them quite often!

Also a simple yarn, but better quality; they are on the way to become my faves....
storm here today in the north of Germany. Very chill winds, so cuffs are still necessary to wear. We even expect snow again during the new week.....but first, enjoy your Sunday!!!

* Thirties Hat and Nome *

I've always loved the hats that were popular in the 1930ties. So I thought about a pattern and had a try. Result is quite ok; I used a single skein of Horstia Island yarn in a pretty green that I still had. It was just right; had only about 30 cm left finally. The hat was felted lightly and only one time in the machine at 40°C. If I would do it again or even at 60°C this wool would crumble into a frotteelike texture and come out far too small. This way it has a nice soft tissue that holds nicely in hatshape. I still have to find a large mother-of-pearl button or a flower to add to one side as decoration!
Earlier today I saw another team arriving Nome. The webcam only updates every minute, so mostly the entire dogteam is not visible and disappears in the waiting crowd of people. This was the only team that was halfway to see. Think it is Matt Hayashida or Ray Redington coming in. Oh, how I wish I could be there live.... yesterday I saw Dee Dee Jonrowe's arrival! Nice weekend to all of you out in Bloglandia! We have beautiful sun here, but it was frosty last night and this morning...

~ Iditarod ~

Yesterday famous Iditarod dograce between Anchorage and Nome, Alaska, ended with Lance Mackey winning for the third time. Last year I was really fortunate and I saw him come into Nome on the webcam, even though it updates only every minute. This year the lines broke down just before his arrival and what you can see here is the first pic the webcam showed again; quite a few minutes after arrival of the team. But it is still visible how people greet Lance and his dogs whilst he disappears in the crowd....
in the meantime German (from Wuppertal) Sebastian Schnuelle is in, too, well up and in 2nd place!
Great thanx go to Mary; she provided me with online updates once, sometimes twice a day directly from the scene!!! Y

Many mushers are still to come in under the burled arch, so I will watch further!!!

=^..^= Thanx °° ° <°)))><

It is almost 2 years ago now that I helped my dear Olly to go over the Rainbow Bridge after nearly 20 years of faith, love and togetherness! Still miss her, but I am glad that it took her only about 1 minute to cross the bridge after being very sick in her high age. She rests in the forest now ... YYYY

... many years ago when Nanoq was also still alive - rest in peace, darlings!

Spring?

First Iris are also suddenly in full blossom and even though it is still gray and cool, bees are flying and are sipping the rich nectar; can you see them?!! Y
A happy relaxed dog after a long walk, enjoying his bed, which is a real holy place to him!
And I have almost done this new headband. Made of light olive Horstia Iceland Wool and a rest mostly shrill darkpink Noro Kureyon. Further light pink rose tendrils will be added; still have the odd work of sewing them onto the band ahead.... ugh!

Is it Spring yet? Not really! My fave flower shop in town though shows many pretty items that are quite springlike already; just a pleasure to stop by.... Y

Foto Safari #10

Have been back to Horstia Wool Mill and had the notion to shot this snap to show off all the lovely wool in this small factory outlet store! Photo shows only a part of it though! Probably this will be very intresting to all the new people I just meet due Ravelry!
On the other side of the road is a lovely antique shop in the Old Bakery. Mostly furniture, but also some dishes and other stuff that reminds me of my grannies - so lovely!
I declare this shot to be my Foto Safari Pic for today. Enjoy!

Winter is back!

This morning we woke up with a snowfall again - and we thought that winter was done...ugh! Quite fed up with our mostly gray and windy winterweather...
the balcony still looks quite sad without plants and being quite under water, but we are all looking forward to some more bright days as we had a few of last week. It is nasty wet and cold today and makes you shiver as if it is far below freezing point.
Good thing about it is that I can stroll around a bit more at Ravelry. As I am into it only since yesterday a whole new world of creations opend up to me and I wonder how many real knitting and crocheting artists are outthere all around this planet. But the hours just fly by so it is good the dog reminds me from time to time that there are still other things to do...have a nice week all of you out in Bloglandia! Y

>^•^< I'm on >^•^<

Today was surfing day! Quite bad weather outside, so it was just right to stroll around in the web. I found these two cuties at cuteoverload.com and had to adopt them. Aren't they just sweet? Also I found my invitation from Ravelry this morning! I rediscovered old friends and saw many intresting items. You can indeed spend many hours on it....but a good Sunday job when weather is not allowing to be outside...! I am happy I joined! You can find me as nype!

Relax!

What can I knit out of this beautiful coloured Merinowool? I have no idea yet....
Spring is about to arrive here; even though it is a gray day with drizzle again....

Gizmo is unconsoleable without his bed; he needs it to relax and maybe to dream about what nonsense is on next; I have a pubescent dog right now what can be quite stressy from time to time.... have a lovely new week.
